Background

Emerging Health Initiatives (EHI) is a US-headquartered, non-profit international organization working across Tanzania, Kenya, and the United States. Our mission is to improve access to quality, affordable, and compassionate  healthcare services for underserved rural communities.

As part of this mission, EHI is launching a modern Polyclinic in Kamachumu (Muleba District, Kagera). This new facility will provide comprehensive primary healthcare, maternal and child health services, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, and community-centered health programs. EHI invites motivated, compassionate, and qualified clinical professionals to join our founding team.

Position Summary

Reports To: Chief Medical Officer

As a Registered Nurse on our founding clinical team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality nursing care, reproductive and child health (RCH) services, preventive care, and community-based health initiatives. This role is a unique opportunity to help shape the systems, culture, and strategy of a brand-new facility from the ground up. 

Health

 

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care & Patient Management

  • Direct Patient Care: Provide high-standard, compassionate nursing care, including patient assessment, triage, and continuous monitoring.

  • Treatments & Procedures: Administer medications, perform wound dressings, and execute emergency nursing protocols safely and efficiently.

  • Infection Control: Maintain and support strict implementation of infection prevention and control (IPC) standards across the facility.

Maternal, Child & Community Health

  • RCH Services: Deliver comprehensive Antenatal Care (ANC), Reproductive and Child Health (RCH), Family Planning, and Immunization services. 

    HealthEducation & Medical Training

     

  • Outreach: Participate actively in community health education and mobile outreach programs to reach underserved populations.

Administration & Reporting

  • Documentation: Maintain precise, secure patient records and facility service registers utilizing Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.

  • Compliance: Prepare mandatory government health reports and service statistics accurately and timely.

Qualifications & Competencies

Mandatory Requirements

  • Education: Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Nursing (EN/RN). 

    MedicalFacilities & Services

     

  • Licensure: Active registration with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC) with a valid practicing license.

  • Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of core clinical experience.

  • Languages: Absolute fluency in Kiswahili is mandatory; a strong working knowledge of English is required.

Core Experience & Skills

  • Proven hands-on experience in ANC, RCH, Family Planning, and Immunization workflows.

  • Familiarity with national government health reporting frameworks.

  • Proficiency in computer applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software.

Added Advantages

  • Experience managing or conducting community health outreach initiatives.

General Employment Conditions

  • Probation Period: Six (6) months.

  • Schedule: Full-time rotation based on approved duty rosters. Candidates must be flexible to work weekends, public holidays, and emergency shifts as operational needs dictate.
