TAPBDS COMPANY LIMITED has a grant from AGRA for implementing a project called Enhancing Farmer Access to Quality Inputs and Markets in Tanzania for the period from February 1, 2024, to August 31, 2024. Among the Milestones that AGRA wants to achieve is to support the National Seed Traders Association in coordinating and mobilizing the seed actors (public and private sector) for an optimal seed ecosystem that produces, supplies, and distributes sufficient certified seeds. To achieve this Milestone, TAPBDS resolves to engage a skilled, competent and experienced expert to carry out the assignment.

Scope of Work
The on-boarded expert will undertake the following main tasks:
1.To support the National Seed Traders Association in coordinating and mobilizing the seed actors (public and private sector) for an optimal seed ecosystem that produces, supplies, and distributes sufficient certified seeds by performing but not limited to the following activities;
a)Conduct survey to seed actors (public and private stakeholders) for discussions and data tracking of the production capacity, demands and distribution in Tanzania,
b)Prepare seed availability forecast 2024/25 of the targeted crops.
c)Liaise with Government relevant Ministry, Institutions, Department, Units and Agriculture advisors to establish the projected demand of seeds of targeted crops
d)Identify any existing challenges that exists on attaining seed sovereignty of the targeted crops in Tanzania and propose recommendations or possible solution.
Qualifications and Requirements
•At least Master degree, preferably in Agriculture, General agriculture, seed systems development, Agriculture business or Agro Engineering or any other related fields, with at least 5 years of experience carrying out similar assignments.
•Understanding of economic environment and private sector trends and dynamics at local, regional, continental and global magnitudes.
•Ability to organize and work with Government officials and technical team of different agriculture units.
•Strong survey/research, analytical and reporting skills.
•Ability to professionally communicate in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
Timeline
The assignment is expected to be implemented between 10th June – 12th July, 2024.

Interested and eligible experts are invited to submit their technical and financial proposals, not exceeding 5 pages and 2 pages respectively, to programs@tapbds.com by 8th June, 2024. The submission should consist of the following:
•A technical proposal including the experts understanding and comments on the RFP, methodology, main activities, at least 3 similar assignments clearly indicating the following organization name, email and phone#, year of implementation and key role, work plan and budget.
